Respecting Your Privacy
Secure Safe Alert provides information related to medical identification products (“Product”), Secure Safe Alert website(s) (collectively, “Website”), and services provided by Secure Safe Alert, including subscription services (collectively, “Services”) (collectively, the Website and Services are referred to as the “Platform”) are provided by Secure Safe Alert Foundation International, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization (“Secure Safe Alert”, “us”, “we”). We recognize that you, as a user of the Product and/or Platform, a donor, a member of our mailing lists, or another supporter of Secure Safe Alert (“you”) may be concerned about the information you provide to us, online or otherwise, and how we treat that information. This Privacy Policy addresses those concerns.

UNLESS OTHERWISE DEFINED IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY, TERMS USED IN THIS PRIVACY POLICY HAVE THE SAME MEANINGS AS IN THE Secure Safe Alert TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

Donors

All information concerning donors or prospective donors, including their names, addresses, and telephone numbers, the names of their beneficiaries, and the amounts of their gifts, shall be kept strictly confidential by Secure Safe Alert, its staff, and volunteers unless permission is obtained from donors to release such information. Secure Safe Alert will not sell, rent, or trade our donors’ names, postal addresses, email addresses or phone numbers with any other entity.

Overview of Secure Safe Alert Services

As further described in the Secure Safe Alert, a principal purpose of the Product and related Services is to provide information about users of the Product and Services to first responders, health care personnel, and related others in the event of an emergency.

The Product includes Secure Safe Alert’s toll-free number where Secure Safe Alert’s emergency response team is available 24/7 to provide information to such first responders, health care personnel, and others. To help get the aid you need in an emergency situation, you may also call 911 through your phone, or from any phone number you have shared with Secure Safe Alert, and when the phone number that contacted 911 matches any of the phone numbers you have shared with Secure Safe Alert, where available, or when someone provides the Secure Safe Alert identification number to the 911 dispatcher, Secure Safe Alert will share your information with the 911 dispatcher. The information we share with the 911 dispatcher is your name and the gender that you have provided to Secure Safe Alert, as well as a calculated age based on the date of birth you have provided. When sharing your information with the 911 dispatcher, we will also pass along your information to RapidSOS, which provides a technology platform that enables data sharing from Secure Safe Alert to 911 dispatchers. RapidSOS’s emergency platform will only transmit the Secure Safe Alert data to 911 dispatchers in the United States. In order to protect you, Secure Safe Alert and RapidSOS may retain information about the times when the 911 dispatcher received your information. Any summary of such 911 access information that Secure Safe Alert or RapidSOS keeps will be de-identified so that it does not contain any information that can be linked to you. Secure Safe Alert and RapidSOS will never record or listen to your or any 911 calls or make a transcript of such calls. However, all calls, emails, and other communications between you and Secure Safe Alert may be recorded.

Information Collected by the Secure Safe Alert Platform

Secure Safe Alert principally gathers personally identifiable information, such as names, addresses, zip/postal codes, and email addresses, when voluntarily submitted by you. This information is available to Secure Safe Alert and other service providers involved in the operation of the Product and Platform. Secure Safe Alert requires that all third-party service providers hold personal information in strict confidence. While we do not own or control these companies, we believe they are upstanding and will treat your personal information responsibly.

Additionally, our Website automatically logs connection information, such as IP address, user-agent string, referring URL, and dates/times of access.

Opt-out Policy

You may opt out of periodic communications by emailing us or calling 1.800.432.5378 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30 pm PDT Monday through Friday. You cannot unsubscribe from transactional communications (e.g., product orders or receipts).

Exceptions to Opt-out Policy

Secure Safe Alert may disclose personal information if compelled by law or necessary to prevent harm or enforce rights.

Protecting Credit Card Information

Secure Safe Alert uses encryption technology to ensure secure transmission of sensitive data. Credit card numbers are never stored on our servers and are replaced with reference tokens. Staff cannot access your credit card information at any time.

How We Use “Cookies”

Secure Safe Alert uses cookies to track usage behavior, improve user experience, and for research and marketing. You can disable cookies through your browser settings.

How We Use Information

We use your information for business purposes including improving services, administrative tasks, personalization, analytics, legal compliance, and fraud prevention. We may combine data from different sources and provide offers based on your interests or location.

In the case of a merger or acquisition, your data may be transferred as a business asset.

Personal Information and GDPR

The Secure Safe Alert Platform is U.S.-based and services U.S. residents. If you provide information from outside the U.S., you consent to its transfer and use in the U.S. We believe we have a legitimate interest to process your data in support of our mission to protect lives during emergencies.

Links to Third-party Sites

Our Platform may contain links to other sites. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites. We are not responsible for their privacy practices.

Information Collected by Third Parties

Our vendors may collect transaction and behavior data. We use tools such as Google Analytics to improve our services.

California Privacy Disclosure

Secure Safe Alert may collect user information across websites. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals. Under the California “Shine the Light” law, California residents may request details about personal information shared with third parties for direct marketing once per year. Email us with the subject “Your California Privacy Rights Notice.”

Children’s Privacy

Secure Safe Alert does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Children should get parental consent before using the Platform.

Changes to Privacy Policy

Secure Safe Alert may update this policy periodically. Changes were last made on April 14, 2021.
